EASY Bruschetta RECIPE

March, 23rd 2023

This bruschetta recipe is a classic Italian appetizer that will leave everyone at the table satisfied and coming back for more. Perfect for a snack for two, summer parties, or weeknight dinners. This recipe is simple and easy to make and requires few ingredients. The most popular way to serve bruschetta is with chopped tomatoes, garlic, and basil over toasted baguette slices or crostini. I used the Julian Recipe (Butter & Garlic Baguette)

Serving Suggestions

Bruschetta can be served over a slice of toasted bread, I find this makes the bread slightly soggy depending on how long it’s left out. I prefer to scoop my desired amount each time, followed by dipping my bread in the leftover juice. You can arrange bread slices on a platter and serve the bruschetta inside a decorative bowl.

Tomatoes & basil

The choice is yours. Yes! There are different species of basil. Mind-blowing right? Do not fear. Sweet basil is common in most recipes. Sweet basil can be found in all grocery stores, not usually labeled as “sweet”, just “basil”. Tomatoes! Available in different shapes, sizes colors and flavors. Here’s a helpful guide from Kroger

Garlic

Fresh garlic has been a common seasoning across the world for centuries. Knowing how to select the best varieties for your region and the flavors you want can be confusing. This is one of my favorite guides: Garlic Guide. I used Softneck garlic (most common among shoppers) in my bruschetta. I chopped the pieces small

what you will need
Two minced fresh garlic cloves
4 -5 Campari Tomatoes, diced
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar, or more to taste
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/4 cup chopped basil ribbons
Loaf hearty french bread (I used the Julian Recipe – Butter & Garlic Baguette)
***if you live near a Publix grocery store the bakery will slice baguettes for you.

Step by Step Instructions

If you’re making freshly toasted bread follow these steps: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush bread slices on both sides lightly with 1 tablespoon olive oil and place on a large baking sheet. Toast bread until golden, 5 to 10 minutes, turning halfway through. Remove from oven and let cool. Using a whole garlic clove, rub it against the bread.
1. Toss together tomatoes, basil, and garlic in a bowl.
2. Mix balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
3. Allow bruschetta to sit in the refrigerator for 1hr.
4. Spoon tomato mixture onto toasted bread slices OR keep in bowl for guests to serve themselves.
